backgroundchecks.com — 5+ Year Full-Stack Platform Partnership

geniant served as the full-stack technology partner for backgroundchecks.com for over five years — owning strategy, experience design, engineering, and platform operations end-to-end. This is not a consulting engagement where we advised from the outside; we built and ran the platform.

The work included: consumer-facing background check ordering and status workflows, FCRA-compliant adverse action processing, identity verification integrations, high-availability infrastructure for time-sensitive screening requests, and a multi-tier data architecture handling sensitive PII at volume. We maintained platform reliability across peak demand periods and continuously evolved the product based on user behavior data.

Over a 10+ year partnership, we led the product strategy, design, and development of OpsSuite for Southwest Airlines — a web-based operations platform that replaced decades-old tools (logbooks, radios, whiteboards) with a real-time system handling gate management, turn management, tarmac delay management, and recovery coordination across Southwest's entire operation.

The results were measurable: on-time performance on weather-disrupted days ran 10–15% higher than before, and during three major snowstorms in winter 2016, Southwest achieved over 70% on-time performance — outperforming Delta and American on the same days.
